
On October 29-30 the State Commission of E-Governance Development of Georgia and the ICT Business Council of Georgia held the Georgian IT Innovation Conference 2009 & Georgian IT Innovation Award 2009. It was supported by the USAID SME Support Project, HP, Microsoft, MagtiCom Ltd, Next Generation Technologies and Regional Competitiveness Initiative (RCI).
The major objective of the event was to establish and promote effective partnerships among the public and the private sectors, associations and other ICT industry related organizations in Central and Eastern European countries, Baltic States, Caucasus and Middle Asia region to promote innovation and competitiveness. It also aimed at increasing awareness regarding IT importance among high-level governmental officials, private sector representatives and the society at large.
The purpose of the award ceremony was to credit governmental and private entities for good work and best practices, and encourage them and others to invest their time and energy in further development of the IT field.
NAPR won two nominations: Successful IT Innovation Resulted in Streamlining of a Business Process, the Best IT Management Entity. The competent international judges consisted of the experts in economy, business and education as well as representatives from non-governmental organizations and mass media. There were 12 nominations for governmental and business sectors.
The Regional Competitiveness Initiative (RCI) is supporting the organization of the Georgian IT Innovation Conference in Tbilisi in October 29-30, 2009.
