The Ministry of Justice has launched a training programme for public sector representatives on the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI)

🔹 The programme aims to introduce modern standards for the management and sharing of spatial data, improve inter-agency coordination, and strengthen the professional capacities of public institutions.
🔹 As part of the NSDI development reform, a multifunctional geoportal, NSDI.GOV.GE, has been established, bringing together spatial data produced by government agencies and the private sector on a single platform and making it easily accessible to users. A strategy, action plan, and secondary legislation have also been prepared and are expected to be approved in the near future.
The training will prepare public officials for the planned developments and help ensure that spatial data in Georgia are processed and published on the national geoportal NSDI.GOV.GE in accordance with a unified methodology.
🔹 Following completion of the training, a one-year mentoring phase will continue for approximately 20 public institutions that produce spatial data.
🔹 The programme is being implemented within the framework of the GRAIL project, jointly carried out by the National Agency of Public Registry (NAPR) and the World Bank, in cooperation with the Training Center of Justice.
🔹 The development of the NSDI will support the processing and use of spatial data in accordance with a unified methodology, which is important for both the public and private sectors, with reliable spatial data underpinning informed decision-making, infrastructure project planning, and rapid responses to crisis situations.
